...Located on a plateau at an altitude of 1100-1200m, with scattered hills, the area enjoys a monthly average temperature of 20℃ (July) to 24.5℃ (November), but the average annual rainfall is low at about 550mm, with only 20mm especially in the dry season (May to October). It is the center of the residential area of the Gogo agro-pastoralists, and apart from groundnut plantations, it was an extensive self-sufficient agricultural and pastoral area, but a new socialist village was developed here as a model area for the construction of Ujamaa (meaning "fraternity") villages promoted by President Nyerere.
