The Śukasaptati is a Sanskrit collection of tales. The original has been lost, and neither the author nor the date are known, but two variant versions have been handed down. According to the overall framework story, a clever parrot, while his owner was traveling, told an interesting story every night for 70 nights to stop his wife from going out to be with her lover. Finally, he asked her how to escape from her predicament, and as dawn broke while the wife was still thinking of a response, he told her the solution, and thus she welcomed her husband back safely. The stories included here are diverse, but many of them are about the affairs of unfaithful women.

サンスクリットの説話集《シュカサプタティ》。原本は失われ，原作者も年代も不明であるが，2種の異本が伝わっている。全体の枠物語によれば，賢い鸚鵡が飼主の旅行中，情人の許に行こうとする妻の外出を止めるため，70夜にわたって毎夜興味ある話を語り，最後に窮境を脱する方法を尋ね，妻が返答を考えているうちに夜が明けると，その解決法を語り，かくして無事に夫を迎えた。ここに収められている話は多種多様であるが，浮気女の情事に関するものが多い。
