International Gymnast Federation (English)

…In the second half of the 19th century, gymnastics federations were established one after another in European countries, and they began to become very active. In 1881, an international conference was held that would become the basis for the current International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), and the first international agreement was created. Thus, gymnastics became an official Olympic event at the first Olympic Games held in Athens in 1896.
