Faysal I (English spelling)

Japanese: Fayṣal I(英語表記)FaysalI
Faysal I (English spelling)

In 1824, Muhammad ibn Saud's grandson Turki (reigned 1824-34) recaptured Riyadh from the Egyptian garrison, and the Second Wahhabi Sultanate was re-established. His son Faysal I (reigned 1834-38, 1843-65) was briefly imprisoned in Cairo by the Ottoman Empire, but escaped in 1843 and was restored to the throne, expanding his rule to the central and eastern parts of the peninsula. Britain, which occupied Aden in 1839 (and made it a direct colony in 1937), had been protecting the Persian Gulf coast and the small emirates east of Aden since 1835 under treaties, but it supported Ibn Rashid, chief of the Hail tribe in the northern part of Najd, and in 1891 the Second Wahhabi Sultanate was destroyed by the Rashid family, supported by Britain and the Ottoman Empire, and the Saud family was forced to flee to Kuwait.
