Battle of Stalingrad - Battle of Stalingrad
The Battle of Stalingrad (now Volgograd) took place between the German and Soviet armies from August 1942 to February 1943. It was the fiercest battle of World War II, and 330,000 German troops were surrounded and annihilated (90,000 were taken prisoner). After this, the Soviet army launched an all-out counterattack, dramatically changing the course of the war.
