The muscles that control the movement of the eye are called the extraocular muscles. The extraocular muscles control the movement of the eye and the intrinsic muscles control the movement of the pupil.

It is a small striated muscle, 40-60 mm long and about 10 mm wide, and consists of four rectus muscles: the lateral rectus (also called the lateral rectus), medial rectus (also called the medial rectus), superior rectus, and inferior rectus, and two oblique muscles: the inferior oblique and superior oblique. These muscles are innervated by three nerves: the abducens nerve for the lateral rectus, the oculomotor nerve for the medial rectus to inferior oblique, and the trochlear nerve for the superior oblique. …
