In Greek mythology, the wind gods were first divided into Zephyros, the west wind, Boreas, and Notos, the south wind, and the goddesses of dawn, Eos and Astraeus, were considered their parents. Boreas kidnapped Orethyia, the daughter of the Athenian king Erechtheus, to his home base in Thrace, and gave birth to twin sons, Kalais and Zētēs. These brothers, who participated in the Argonaut expedition, were also clearly wind spirits, and like their father, they had wings and could fly through the air at incredible speed. …
