...A supporter of Imperial rule in the late Edo period. His name was Hidemi, and he was commonly known as Isaburo, and his pen name was Kimpei. Born as the fourth son of a merchant family in Utsunomiya, Shimotsuke, he studied under the Confucian scholar Suzuki Ishibashi, and later became acquainted with Fujita Yukoku and Hayashi Shihei, and was influenced by Mitogaku. He investigated the ruins of the Imperial tombs of the successive Emperors, and wrote "Sanryo-shi" in 1808 (Bunka 5), which had a great influence on the supporters of the Imperial rule at the end of the Edo period. In response to the appearance of Russian warships in the northern part of the country, he wrote "Fujiyutui" in 1807, in which he appealed to the shogunate government for a sense of crisis and the need for coastal defense.
