Ochi [town] - Ochi
A former town in Ochi District, central Shimane Prefecture. The main settlement, Kasubuchi, is located at a bend in the middle reaches of the Gono River, and is on the Sanko Line. It was once a stopover point for boat traffic on the Gono River, connecting Gotsu and Miyoshi. Wagyu cattle are raised and lumber is produced here. There is a Yugakai hot spring. In October 2004, it merged with Yamato Village, Ochi District, to become Misato Town. Area: 185.89 km2 . Population: 4,494 (2003).

島根県中部,邑智郡の旧町。主集落の粕淵(かすぶち)は江の川(ごうのがわ)中流の屈曲部にあり,三江(さんこう)線が通じる。かつて江津(ごうつ)と三次(みよし)を結ぶ江の川舟運の中継地であった。和牛の飼育,製材を行う。湯抱(ゆがかい)温泉がある。2004年10月邑智郡大和村と合併し町制,美郷町となる。185.89km2。4494人(2003)。
