Born: September 28, 1855, Shelbyville [Died] April 24, 1941. Hanover American painter. He studied at the New York School of Fine Arts and at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under J. Jerome. After 1883, he gained fame for his portraits of American Indians and mothers and children. His major works include "The Artist and Mother and Child" (1900) and "The Family" (07).
