…The 1807 decree was issued on the way to Moscow, but due to political turmoil, it was not realized until a royal decree in 1821. The École des Chartes, a school of ancient writings, produced many bibliographers, historians, and philologists, and the National Bibliothèque was also developed. A catalogue of printed books and manuscripts was created by N. Rigaud, Saumaise, and Hutin in 1622, but the manuscript catalogue was expanded and revised by the Dupuy brothers in 1645, and N. Clement created the classification that would become the basis for subsequent works. …
