Dutch auction (English: Dutch auction)

...Auctions are a standard way of buying and selling fresh food at wholesale markets, where two or more buyers compete against one seller to sell to the highest bidder. There are two types of auctions: buyers bid up (bidding up), and sellers bid down (bidding down). Auctions are limited to special items and cases (such as bananas sold on the street), and are also called Dutch auctions because they were held in parts of the Netherlands and Belgium. The general form of auction is auctions, but when there is one buyer and two or more sellers compete to buy the item from the seller who bids the lowest price, it is called auction buying. Competitive bidding (bidding) seen in construction contracts and public office furniture bidding is a type of auction buying.
