De profundis (English spelling)

…This is a confession written in the form of a letter to Alfred Douglas from prison when the British author O. Wilde was imprisoned from 1895 to 1897 for homosexual relations with Douglas. The excerpted version was published in 1905, and the complete version in 1949. It is an important document that explains his own actions, as well as his experiences and feelings while in prison, his views on life, art, and religion.
