...It is also common to play the instrument by placing it completely inside a resonator made by cutting off the top of a large oak tree to obtain a richer sound. The name "sanza" is the name of a region in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and it is also called by various other names depending on the region and the shape of the instrument, such as mbira, kalimba, and likembe. In Europe and the United States, it is commonly referred to as "thumb piano."
