déguisement (English spelling)

The words "transformation" and "henso" have existed in the Japanese vocabulary since ancient times, but this word "disguise" is a new word created in modern times and is thought to have begun to be used as a translation of modern Western words (such as French déguisement and travestissement, and English disguise). The typical usage that became established after that has a fairly strong nuance of referring to a convenient disguise for hiding one's true identity, such as in "a detective's disguise" or "a policeman's disguise."
