Limestone pillars measuring tens of centimeters to several meters wide and several meters high are found in areas where limestone is exposed. In areas where there is almost no soil and limestone is exposed on the surface, rainwater erodes the limestone rapidly. During this process, the limestone is eroded unevenly due to the undulations of the surface, the joints in the limestone, and the presence of fault planes, and countless grooves are formed vertically and horizontally. The high areas remaining between these grooves are called Karenfeld, and when they stand in countless forests, they present a landscape that resembles gravestones, flocks of sheep, or herds of elephants.
