Mystery writer. His real name was Eijiro Oguri. He was born in Tokyo and graduated from the commercial department of Keika Junior High School. In 1933 (Showa 8), he burst onto the mystery literary scene like a comet with his work "The Perfect Crime," which was based on a locked-room murder, and was published in "Shin Seinen." In the same year, he published "The Tragedy at St. Alexei's Cathedral," and the following year, "The Yumedono Murder Case." Alongside serious works, he also published a psychological crime novel, "Termites" (1935), and a new fantasy novel, "The Iron Mask of the Twentieth Century" (1936), but it was "The Black Death Mansion Murder Case" (1934) that reached the pinnacle of his style, making full use of Van Dine's brilliant pedantry, tricks, and super-logic.
