Yantai - Endai

Japanese: 烟台 - えんだい

It is a port city on the northern coast of the Shandong Peninsula in Shandong Province, China, facing Zhifu Bay. It is also known as Yantai. Formerly known as Zhifu. It opened in 1858 and was a transit port for North-South trade in the late Qing Dynasty. It is the terminus of the Blue Yan Railway, which connects Lancun, and is well-connected to the inland, making it the largest city on the northern side of the peninsula, with a developed commercial and industrial base. In the past, it was a sending port for immigrants from Shandong to the northeast. Population: 1.81 million (2014).

中国，山東省・山東半島の北岸にあり，芝罘(チーフー)湾に臨む港湾都市。煙台とも。旧名芝罘。1858年に開港，清末には南北交易の中継港であった。藍村と結ぶ藍烟鉄道の終点で内陸との交通に恵まれ，商工業が発達する半島北側第１の都市。古くは，山東からの移民の東北への送出し港であった。181万人（2014）。
