The International Council of Sports and Physical Education

Japanese: 国際スポーツ体育協議会 - こくさいスポーツたいいくきょうぎかい（英語表記）The International Council of Sports and Physical Education

An international council made up of various national organizations to promote the correct development of sport and physical education. Its abbreviation is ICSPE. It was formed at the time of the Rome Olympic Games in 1960, and is an advisory body to UNESCO on physical education and sport. It holds meetings at each Olympic Games and works through UNESCO organizations. At the Tokyo Conference in 1964, it adopted the Sport Declaration on the state of school sports, leisure sports, and competitive sports. [Kumeno Yutaka]

スポーツと体育の正しい発展をはかるための一国単位の各種団体によって組織された国際的な協議会。略称ICSPE。1960年のローマ･オリンピック大会を機に結成され，ユネスコの体育･スポーツに関する諮問団体となっている。オリンピック大会ごとに会議を開き，ユネスコの組織を通じて活動。64年の東京会議では，学校のスポーツ，レジャーのスポーツ，競技スポーツのあり方について〈スポーツ宣言〉を採択している。【粂野豊】
