A form of women's education. It is a part of social education that aims to teach women about issues in their daily and professional lives in a planned and collective manner over a certain period of time. It began after World War II with the aim of educating women about the democratization of society, including the exercise of suffrage, and the democratization of local communities and family life, and from the mid-1950s it became a central form of women's education alongside women's group activities. However, after peaking around 1960, the number of participants in government-sponsored courses for women has been declining. The reasons for this include the expansion of school education opportunities, the development of mass media, and the development of private educational businesses such as cultural centers. In addition, considering the increase in the number of women in the workforce, we can expect to see a diversification of content, including the review of learning styles, the review of gender roles, and the resolution of women's issues. In recent years, the word "women" has tended to be used rather than "fujin." Source: Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia About Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia Information |
