Enjiro - Enjiro
He is the protagonist of Santo Kyoden's yellow-covered novel "Edo-mare Uwaki-no-Kabayaki (Fresh, Lustrous Birch Pottery from Edo)."
The only son of a wealthy merchant and his sworn enemy. He is vain and tries to impress others by pretending to be a playboy, but fails. He then attempts a fake double suicide with a prostitute named Uchina, but is attacked by robbers (who are actually his father and the storekeeper). He reforms and marries Uchina. Enjiro has become synonymous with vain men.
