...It is also written as Kinbeito, Kinmochito, and Touka. It is a type of Nanban confectionery that was introduced to Japan at the end of the Muromachi period, and the word comes from the Portuguese word confeito (sugar confectionery). Its name appears among the gifts given by Luis Frois to Oda Nobunaga when he met him in April 1569 (Eiroku 12).
