…He majored in Han history at Peking University, and in 1932 became a researcher at the Academia Sinica Institute of History and Philology, where he worked on sorting and studying the more than 10,000 newly discovered Juyan Han bamboo slips. In 1943, he published Commentary on the Juyan Han bamboo slips, which compiled the complete text and historical analysis, and in 1957, he published a collection of illustrations, and in the meantime published many papers, setting a precedent for research into the Juyan Han bamboo slips. He also conducted many other studies on ancient history, and published a collection of his works, Laoxi Academic Papers Collection Jia Edition (1976). …
