GNP - Global Market Value

Gross National Product. An index that tally up the value of final products produced by the national economy over a certain period of time, it is a concept that serves as a guide to a nation's productivity. It refers to the final products of people (economic entities) who reside in a country for more than one year. Today, GDP is a more common concept, reflecting the fact that economic entities move across borders more frequently as a result of economic globalization. However, although GNP includes net exports based on the actual volume of exports and imports, it does not reflect the actual amount of income generated by the difference between export and import prices. With the adoption of the new economic accounting system, the 93SNA, GNI (gross national income) has been newly introduced.

国民総生産。国民経済がある一定期間に生産した最終生産物の価値を集計した指標で、国家の生産力の目安となる概念。ある国に1年以上居住する者（経済主体）の最終生産物のことをさす。現在では、経済のグローバル化に伴って、経済主体の国境を越えた移動が頻繁に行なわれるようになったことを反映して、GDPのほうが一般的な概念となっている。ただし、GNPには輸出入の実質的な数量による純輸出は含まれるものの、輸出入価格の差によって生まれる所得の実質額は反映されていなかった。新しい経済計算体型の93SNAの採用に伴い、新たにGNI（国民総所得）が導入されている。
