Banquet Excerpts

Japanese:
Banquet Excerpts
A collection of medieval folk songs. The second anthology of soga (early haiku). Published before 1296 (Einin 4). 3 volumes and 3 books. Contains 30 songs, 21 of which were written by the editor Myoukū (30 songs in total). Compared to the previous "Anthology of Banquet Songs," this collection fully displays the characteristics of soga, such as the detailed journeys to temples and shrines in "Pilgrimage to Kumano" (Kyoto - Nachisan) and "Practice at Zenkoji Temple" (Kamakura - Shinano), as well as "Umanotoku" and "Shochiku," which praise the Buddha through familiar objects.
