Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). Founded in May 1971, OIC is an international organization with the goal of promoting solidarity and cooperation among Islamic countries. Its headquarters are in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Its member states are 52 countries and the PLO (as of 1998). Its sub-organizations include the Islamic Development Bank and the Jerusalem Committee, and it is also committed to defending the holy sites and supporting the Palestinian struggle for national independence. In the 1990s, it attracted attention for its support for the Islamic republics of Central Asia, which joined the organization after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and for its activities to support Islamic forces in the former Yugoslavia.

Organization of the Islamic Conference，略称OIC。1971年５月創設されたイスラム諸国の連帯・協力の促進を目的とする国際機構。本部はサウジアラビアのジッダ。加盟国は52ヵ国とPLO（1998年現在）。下部機関にイスラム開発銀行，エルサレム委員会などがあり，聖地の防衛，パレスティナの民族独立闘争の支援にも力を入れている。1990年代に入って，ソ連邦崩壊後の中央アジアのイスラム系共和国の新規加盟や，旧ユーゴスラビアのイスラム勢力への支援活動が注目された。
