Japanese: 定期預金 - ていきよきん
Fixed term deposit - teikiyokin

A deposit with a fixed deposit period that is determined in advance and, in principle, withdrawals will not be allowed during that period. The deposit period is one month or more, and there are fixed term deposits of one month, three months, six months, one year, two years, three years, four years, five years, six years, seven years, eight years, nine years, and ten years, as well as fixed term deposits with a one-year grace period and a maturity date of one's choice, more than one month in advance, that the customer can specify.

In addition to ordinary fixed term deposits, there are automatic renewal fixed term deposits, which are automatically renewed when the maturity date of the fixed term deposit is reached, installment fixed term deposits, which do not make withdrawals but only accumulate for a certain period of time, fixed interest rate fixed term deposits, which have a fixed interest rate that does not change until the maturity date, and variable interest rate fixed term deposits, which have a fixed interest rate that changes according to market interest rates at the time of deposit on the return date at regular intervals from the date of deposit during the deposit period. Interest rates were regulated by the announcement of the maximum interest rate limits by the Minister of Finance (the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance from January 2001) based on the Temporary Interest Rate Adjustment Act, but were fully liberalized in 1993.
