The branches grow in a slightly zigzag pattern and reach a height of about 6m. The leaves are thick, leathery, glossy, cordate, 15-18cm wide, and the midribs are reddish. In summer, the upper leaf axils produce racemes 15-25cm long that contain numerous fragrant yellow-white flowers.
