Citta

…This sutra is a systematization of yoga, which has existed in various forms since ancient times, borrowing from the Sankhya school of thought under the influence of Buddhism. It differs from the Sankhya school in that it often collectively refers to the mind (citta) as opposed to the three elements distinguished in the Sankhya school: the faculty of perception (buddhi), the self-consciousness (ahamkara), and the organ of thought (manas), and also in that it recognizes a supreme god (īśvara), which the Sankhya school does not. For this reason, the Yoga school is sometimes called the theistic Sankhya school. …
