CI (corporate identity) is the use of a graphical logo or symbol mark to clarify a company's concept and management philosophy, and to align employees' perception of the company with the perception of the company by people outside the company. Since the 1950s, many American companies have adopted CI to adapt to a market in which customer needs and corporate services were rapidly diversifying, and to demonstrate the uniqueness of the company. In Japan, too, from the 1980s, an increasing number of companies have introduced CI in response to a diversifying market, but it is said that in many cases this has ended up being merely a redesign of the mark or a superficial makeover. Currently, instead of CI, attention is being paid to the establishment of BI (brand identity). Source: ASCII.jp Digital Dictionary About ASCII.jp Digital Dictionary Information |
