Then, James Churchward (1852-1936), a British soldier stationed in India, discovered an ancient tablet there and deciphered that a continent called Mu, which boasted an advanced civilization 50,000 years ago, existed in the Pacific Ocean. He renamed the hypothetical Lemuria to Mu in accordance with the ancient legend. His book Mu, the Lost Continent (1926) showed that there are references to the continent of Mu in ancient records and myths in China, Japan, and the Pacific Islands, and said that the current civilization is merely a tradition of the ancient Mu, and that when Mu sank 12,000 years ago, a very small number of Mu people migrated to what is now Mexico. ...
