Katsura Bunto

...If Encho is the perfector of Edo rakugo, En'yu can be said to be the father of modern rakugo. In Kamigata, the Katsura school rose to power against the Hayashiya school that dominated the rakugo world at the end of the Edo period, and the Naniwa Sanyu school, centered around Katsura Bunto II (1844-1900), was born from a dispute over the succession of the Katsura Bunshi name, and the Naniwa Sanyu school, centered around Katsura Bunto II, entered its golden age due to the competition with the Katsura school centered around Bunshi II.
[Rakugo Study Group formed]
The Tokyo Rakugo world, which lost Shunkintei Ryuso in 1897, Encho and Enshi in 1900, also lost the 4th Ensho, who had led the Sanyu school after Encho's death, in 2004. Given the prosperity of the Kamigata Rakugo world, the world had to come up with a plan to deal with the situation.
