Danish poet. Influenced by German romanticism, he wrote many elegant poems and plays that yearned for the glory of ancient Scandinavia, and was called the "King of Scandinavian Poets." His works include "Nordic Poetry" (1807), and the verse dramas "Aladdin" and "Correggio." In his later years, he became a pastoral classicist.
