...Goat meat has a particular smell that many people dislike, but in Japan, goat dishes have been eaten in Okinawa and Nagasaki since ancient times, and native goats (Tokara goats and Shiba goats (illustration)) have been raised for meat. Famous goat breeds for their hair include the Angora, native to Turkey, which produces mohair, and the Cashmere, whose undercoat that grows in winter is used to make high-quality textiles (cashmere). Mohair is 15 to 18 cm long, has excellent luster and elasticity, and is used to make thin summer clothing, shawls, and high-quality velvet.
