Burzuya (English spelling)

…the oldest work of Arabic prose literature. The physician Burzūya, who was sent to India by the Sassanid Persian emperor Khosrow I (reigned 531-579), brought back a Sanskrit collection of fables, the Panchatantra, along with many medical books. This was eventually translated into Middle Persian (Pahlavi) and in the 8th century, the Iranian Ibn al-Mukaffar retranslated it into Arabic as the Kalīla and Dimna.
