Jindai Botanical Gardens
This metropolitan botanical garden is located in Chofu, Tokyo. It has an area of ​​2.55 km2 . Construction began in 1957 and the garden opened in 1961. It is characterized by being designed primarily for recreation. It has 100,000 trees of approximately 3,000 tree species planted. In addition to traditional Japanese flowers and trees, it also has a Peace Forest with plants donated from all over the world to commemorate the Treaty of Peace with Japan. Part of the natural forest of Musashino has been preserved, and the garden also has facilities such as an educational garden, a rose garden, a large greenhouse, a special plant viewing garden, and a botanical hall. The ancient temple Jindaiji is next door.
