Jindai Botanical Gardens

Japanese: 神代植物公園 - じんだいしょくぶつこうえん

This metropolitan botanical garden is located in Chofu, Tokyo. It has an area of 2.55 ^km2 . Construction began in 1957 and the garden opened in 1961. It is characterized by being designed primarily for recreation. It has 100,000 trees of approximately 3,000 tree species planted. In addition to traditional Japanese flowers and trees, it also has a Peace Forest with plants donated from all over the world to commemorate the Treaty of Peace with Japan. Part of the natural forest of Musashino has been preserved, and the garden also has facilities such as an educational garden, a rose garden, a large greenhouse, a special plant viewing garden, and a botanical hall. The ancient temple Jindaiji is next door.

東京都調布市にある都立植物公園。面積 2.55km²。 1957年造園着工，61年開園。レクリエーションを主体に設計されていることが特色。樹種約 3000，10万本を植栽。日本古来の花卉，樹木のほかに，対日講和条約を記念して世界各国から贈られた植物による平和の森もある。一部には武蔵野の自然林も保存され，教材園，バラ園，大温室，特殊植物観賞園，植物会館などの施設もある。隣に古刹深大寺がある。
