Knights Templar

Japanese: テンプル騎士団 - テンプルきしだん

The most representative medieval religious order of knights (knightly order). Known as the Templarii. Founded in 1118 by French knight Hugues of Champagne and several others to protect pilgrimages to the Holy Land. Approved by the Pope in 1128. They built strong fortresses in the Holy Land and played an active role as the main fighting force in the Crusades. In 1307, all members were arrested due to a conspiracy by King Philip IV of France, and in 1312, they were ordered to disband by the Pope, and their members and property were transferred to the Knights of John.

最も代表的な中世の宗教騎士団（騎士修道会）。Templariiという。1118年フランスのシャンパーニュの騎士ユーグHuguesほか数名が聖地巡礼保護のため創立。1128年教皇認可。聖地に堅城を築き十字軍の主戦力として活躍。1307年フランス国王フィリップ４世の陰謀により全員逮捕，1312年教皇により解散を命ぜられ，会員・財産はヨハネ騎士団に移された。
