Bradshaw, G.

…The internal timetables for each railway management bureau display the times of arrival, departure, and passing of all trains at all stations, and also include necessary information for operation such as designated operating tracks and designated arrival and departure lines, serving as a model for the orderliness of train operation. [Kawada Joji]
[history]
The originator of the publication of railway timetables, which compiled all the railway schedules in a single book, was the British printer George Bradshaw (1801-53), whose first publication was Bradshaw's Railway Timetable, published on October 19, 1839. This became a monthly publication in December 1841, and included steamship schedules in addition to railway schedules. It continued until June 1961, so that the word "Bradshaw" became generally accepted as meaning "railroad timetable."
