…In the application of steam power, R. Trevithick succeeded in adopting a gear transmission system in England in 1804. Others, such as W. Murdoch and John Blenkinsop (1783-1831), also built locomotives, but all of them, including the gear system, had problems with the power transmission system. In response to this, G. Stephenson, who focused on the adhesion of the driving wheels to the rails, came up with a system that transmitted the reciprocating motion of the pistons to the driving wheels and converted them into circular motion, which guaranteed the practical use of the locomotive. …
