Stokowski
American conductor. Born to a Polish father and an Irish mother. Grew up in London and started out as an organist. Moved to the United States in 1905 and obtained citizenship in 1915. After serving as the conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, he served as the principal conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra from 1912 to 1938, developing the orchestra into one of the leading orchestras in the United States, while also appearing with the orchestra in films such as The Girl in the Orchestra, Carnegie Hall, and Fantasia. In 1962, he founded the American Symphony Orchestra and served as its music director until 1972. He was a pioneer who was sensitive to the trends of the times, and he actively used media such as records, radio, and movies to promote his work, and many of his works were premiered in the United States. His idea of ​​arranging string instruments from the left hand, first and second violins, viola, and cello, is used by many orchestras today.
