Action Adventure Film

...It contains all the basic elements of an action movie: crime, death, violence, and speed, including a speeding train, robbery, murder, and horse chases (the same can be said for the so-called "serial action" that originated in France, such as Louis Feuillade's "Fantômas"). Its worldwide success proved that the origin of film was action itself, and it determined one of the directions of subsequent films, and came to form the mainstream of American films in particular. It is also sometimes summarized as an "action-adventure film." Westerns and war films are often considered to be separate and distinct genres, but the genre generally referred to as "action films" includes entertainment film genres that depict the actions of individuals or small groups of people who take on danger, such as serials, sword fighting films, pirate films, chivalry films, adventure films, sports films, spy films, crime films, martial arts films, and aviation films, as well as thriller films that focus on the thrill of chasing and being chased, prison films that feature themes of riots and prison escapes, and "kamikaze missions" and "local battles" that are called "B-grade war films" or "battlefield films."
