Evian is a resort and mineral spring town located on the southern shore of Lake Geneva in southeastern France. Population 6,100 (1982). Bain means bath. The town produces over 30 million bottles of mineral water per month using its high-quality water. The efficacy of Evian water began to be known in the early 18th century. The ceasefire agreement between France and the National Liberation Front of Algeria, announced on March 18, 1962, is called the Evian Accords, as it was negotiated here.
