〘noun〙 An infectious disease that doctors were required to report within 24 hours of diagnosing under the Infectious Diseases Prevention Law. In 1999 , the Infectious Diseases Prevention Law was abolished and the Infectious Diseases Law was enacted, requiring doctors to report the following diseases to prefectural governors through public health centers: Class 1 infectious diseases (Ebola hemorrhagic fever, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, plague, Marburg disease, and Lassa fever), Class 2 infectious diseases (acute poliomyelitis, cholera, bacterial dysentery, diphtheria, typhoid fever, and paratyphoid fever), Class 3 infectious diseases (enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli infection), and Class 4 infectious diseases, including acquired immune deficiency syndrome, syphilis, malaria, and other infectious diseases specified by Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare ordinances. 〘名〙 伝染病予防法で、診断した医師が二四時間以内に届け出ることを義務づけられていた伝染病。平成一一年(一九九九)に伝染病予防法は廃止され、感染症法が施行されて、医師は以下の疾患に対して保健所を通じて都道府県知事への届け出が義務付けられている。一類感染症(エボラ出血熱、クリミアコンゴ出血熱、ペスト、マールブルク病およびラッサ熱)、二類感染症(急性灰白髄炎、コレラ、細菌性赤痢、ジフテリア、腸チフスおよびパラチフス)、三類感染症(腸管出血性大腸菌感染症)および四類感染症のうち、後天性免疫不全症候群、梅毒、マラリアその他厚生労働省令で定めるもの。
