Bellovaci

...It was formed in the 3rd century BC by a mixture of Celts and Germanic peoples. Although Caesar speaks of the Belgae's bravery, there was no unity among the tribes, and in 57 BC, Caesar almost conquered the area, and in 52 BC, the most warlike tribe, the Bellovaci, was pacified, and the area gradually became Romanized. Under Augustus, the area became the imperial province of Gallia Belgica, and under Domitian, the two provinces of Upper and Lower Germania were separated from it, and then, in Diocletian's reorganization of the empire, it was divided into two provinces, Belgica Prima and Belgica Secunda.
