1882‐1954 French philosopher. Professor at the Sorbonne (1929-31, 1942 onwards). Along with L. Ravel, he advocated the philosophy of spirit, and during the anxious interwar period following World War I, he discussed morality and value theory from the standpoint of spiritual rationalism.
