...These include Micco Spadaro (real name Domenico Gargiulo, 1612-75), who was inspired by the Mannerist stage backgrounds, Rosa, who pioneered Romantic landscape painting, and two other painters from Metz who shared the name Monsù Desiderio and were active in Naples, François Didier Nomé (1588-?) and Didier Barra (1590-?), who specialized in painting ruins. On the other hand, in still-life painting, Paolo Porpora (c. 1617-1673) was strongly influenced by Caravaggio and Dutch painting, Luca Forte (date of birth and death unknown), the Ruoppolo brothers Giovanni Battista Ruòppolo (1629-1693), and Giuseppe R. (date of birth and death unknown) excelled in flowers and fruit, and Giuseppe Recco (1634-1695) preferred to paint fish.
