Bardem, JA (English spelling)

… One of the pioneers of Spanish cinema is the cameraman and animator Segundo de Chomón (1871-1929), best known for his cinematography on the Italian historical epic Cabiria (1913). However, Spanish films first attracted international attention in the 1950s, when works by Louis Garcia Berlanga (Welcome Mr. Marshall, 1952) and Juan Antonio Bardem (A Frightful Encounter, 1955), both of whom were influenced by Italian neorealism, won awards at the Cannes Film Festival.
