H-beam - H-beam

Japanese: H
H-beam - H-beam
A steel beam with an H-shaped cross section. Its distinctive feature is its high resistance to compression and bending. It has a wider flange than an I-beam. Demand for it in construction is increasing due in part to simplified joints. Steel beams with a thicker flange than the web are called structural H-beams, and are used for building columns and beams. There are also steel beams with the same flange and web thickness called H-beams for foundation columns, which are used for foundation work on quays, buildings, bridges, etc.
