April Fools' Day

...It is said that exchanging the bush warblers dispels the misfortunes of the past year in the form of lies, and thus welcomes the new year and good fortune. In Christian countries such as the West, April 1st is called April Fools' Day, and is considered a day when innocent lies are forgiven. This tradition is also observed in Japan, but on the other hand, lies are not permitted on other days, and a distinctive feature is that lies must be personally atoned for through confession or repentance.
