A unit of length used in the past to express the wavelength of X-rays and other rays. 1 X-ray unit ≒ 1.002× ^10-13 m. The symbol is X or XU in English, and XE in German. The cleavage spacing of rock salt was first calculated using Avogadro's number as 2.814× ^10-8 Å, but was changed to 2814.00 X-ray units. This resulted in a slight difference, mainly due to Avogadro's number, and led to the distinction between Å and ¹⁰³ X-ray units. It is defined as 1/3029.45 of the cleavage spacing of calcite at 18°C.

X線などの波長を表すのに過去において使われた長さの単位。1X線単位≒1.002×10^－13m。記号は英語でX,XU，ドイツ語でX.E.など。最初にアボガドロ数を使って岩塩のへき開面間隔を2.814×10^－8Åと計算されているのを2814.00X線単位としたため，おもにアボガドロ数に起因するわずかの違いがでて，Åと10³X線単位とは区別されるようになった。定義は18℃の方解石のへき開面間隔の1/3029.45。
